Frequently Asked Questions

Can I register for two examinations in a single examination period?
One can register for several examinations within one examination period, but candidates should bear in mind the possibility that the times of identical type examination components of parallel examinations might coincide, and that such information may be become available only when the examination schedules are compiled. This is the case on a national level, i.e. this applies to examination types organised in different places of examination as well.

I would like to register for the next examination period, but at the time of the registration I am not staying in Hungary. Will my registration be accepted?
Yes. Registration for the examination may be supplied online, so it does not require personal appearance in the Examination Centre.

If I register now, can I expect to receive my language examination certificate by the deadline for registering for my Master’s Course?
The Examination Centre announces » its deadlines of examination periods well before the beginning of registrations in order for candidates to be able to consider which dates are available for taking their examinations and obtaining their certificates. Prior to the advertised date, under no circumstances is the Examination Centre in a position to issue a certificate. Therefore, it is recommended that, if possible, you register for taking the required language examination one examination period earlier than the one stipulated in your academic schedule.

How will I be informed about the exact time and location of my exam?

When the exam schedule is complete our online administration system will automatically send you an email informing you that you can see the exact time and location of your exam on your online registration platform.

I have entered the password necessary for viewing the schedules, yet I cannot see my examination schedule. What could be the reason for that?
The reason could be providing wrong data or, possibly, an administrative mistake. If you cannot see your schedule, in all cases you should call the Examination Centre’s customer service desk, so that we can look into the problem.

What is to be done if I lose the ID indicated on the registration form, during the days immediately preceding the examination and, thus, I have no time to inform the Centre?
Should you lose your ID immediately before the examination, you can turn up at the examination with a different document (which should, similarly, be only an identity card, passport or driving licence – in exceptional cases, a temporary identification card), and before the examination you need to fill in a declaration sheet that you are taking the examination with a different document of identification. By signing the declaration you accept that the Examination Centre will not disclose your examination results until you produce the document of identification you brought with you to the examination in the Centre’s office.

The listening comprehension subtest is taken on the same day as the written part, so why is it still a component of the oral examination type?
Yes. The listening comprehension subtest is part of the oral examination type, albeit a test taken in a written form. This is why, in practice, it is administered on the same day as the written part.

Is it possible to learn my results for the listening comprehension test before the oral examination?
Unfortunately, it is not. Due to the correction process, all results are given following completion of the exam in its entirety.

I registered for a complex examination, which I did not pass. My score on the written part, however, reached the required level. Can I get a certificate for that?
Yes. In case of an unsuccessful complex type examination, provided that the examination components concerned were successful, an oral or written examination certificate may be issued.

I took my language examination several months ago. I have seen my results on the Internet and found out that I passed. Why have I not received the certificate yet?
The Examination Centre is bound to deliver certificates to successful examinees within 60 days following the end of the examination period. If you have not received your certificate within 60 days, you should make a telephone inquiry to the Centre. Our colleagues will find out if the certificate has been dispatched. If it has, and still you have not received it, you should write a letter to the Centre making a declaration under penalty for misleading the Centre, that, despite having been posted, your certificate has not reached you. Afterwards the Centre will launch an investigation at the Post Office.

I need a foreign language translation of my language examination certificate issued in Hungarian. Does the Language Examination Centre issue such?
FLEC BBU issues translations of the certificates it released before May 2005 for an administration charge of 5000 HUF. The translation also includes the level of language proficiency as defined by the Council of Europe.

When will there be a re-take examination for unsuccessful examinees?
Re-take examinations are not organised by the Centre. Unsuccessful examinees can register for an exam organized in the forthcoming examination period.

I passed the language examination at your Institution in 1997. I need a copy of my certificate. / I need an official statement declaring that my language examination certificate is recognised by the state.

The Examination Centre and its examination systems were granted accreditation in May 2000. Examinations taken earlier are not recognised by the state, so we do not have the means to issue copies/official statements
